Ma un prodotto senza siliconi è migliore di uno che li utilizza?
La comunicazione pubblicitaria di un cosmetico, spesso è rivolta all’assicurare che i prodotti non contengano questa o quella sostanza, invece di esaltare gli ingredienti che ne caratterizzano la formulazione
I siliconi sono così dannosi oppure ci troviamo di fronte a una trovata del marketing?
Andiamo con calma e cerchiamo di illustrare in modo non preconcetto il tutto
I siliconi sono dei polimeri, sostanze a lunga catena molecolare.
Si riconoscono in una formulazione per i suffissi “thicone, xiloxane, silanoil.
In cosmetica i siliconi vengono utilizzati in vari prodotti per la loro caratteristica di donare gradevolezza alla texture, che risulta elastica, morbida e corposa.
Quello più noto è il Dimethicone, tipo di silicone denso, utilizzato nelle creme e prodotti per capelli.
In quasi tutti i cosmetici ad effetto “flash” per il contorno degli occhi sono presenti i cosiddetti siliconi volatili, come ad esempio il Ciclopentaxylosane, che evaporando permettono di liftare la pelle.
I siliconi sono composti inerti che non vengono assorbiti dalla pelle..
Come per tante altre sostanze, la qualità fa sempre la differenza.
Esistono siliconi medicali che vengono utilizzati negli ospedali per curare le grandi ustioni, oppure quelli più noti per le protesi mammarie.
In un cosmetico la concentrazione max al 2% risulta essere quella ottimale
Sostenere che facciano male alla pelle è una forzatura, possono avere effetto occlusivo e questo ne sconsiglia l’utilizzo su pelle grassa e asfittica.
Fanno invece male all’ambiente, essendo “non biodegradabili”, per cui un prodotto che si definisca “eco-bio-naturale” non deve contenere siliconi.
Per concludere il ragionamento: meglio preferire un cosmetico con ingredienti naturali, non rischieremo effetti occlusivi e avremo risultati migliori nel medio periodo.
A vantaggio di quelli siliconici ci sono le performance liftanti immediate, che però sono solo un effetto transitorio, a differenza di quanto si possa ottenere con oli e burri vegetali e sostanze funzionali come Ibisco, Acido Lipoico, Peptidi
